Dr Koen De Bleecker

Koen De Bleecker graduated in 1991 as doctor in Veterinary Medicine from Ghent University, Flanders –Belgium. He spend several years as a general bovine practitioner in the southern region of East-Flanders. What started as a one-man practice grew after several years up into a three –vets association, specialized in dairy and beef cattle and working under HACCP-quality standards.


In 2007 he started working for DGZ Vlaanderen as a veterinary consultant and advisor where he was responsible for the ‘VEEPEILER’-program. This program concerns monitoring cattle health with focus on emerging and re-emerging diseases. At this time he is the ruminant market responsible for DGZ and a regional account vet for East-Flanders and Flemisch Brabant.


His scientific interest centers around cattle health with focus on infectious and metabolic diseases. He was author and co-author of several scientific papers, posters and speaks. He was a past president of the Regional South-East-Flanders Veterinary Association.


He lives in the countryside of the Flemish Ardennes region with his wife (who also is a vet and runs her own small animal practice), daughter and son and some farm animals.
