Dr Stefaan Ribbens
Stefaan Ribbens graduated in 2003 as a vet, specialty
ruminants, Ghent University. Immediately after graduation he was employed by
the Department of Reproduction, Obstetrics and Herd Health (UGent). Here he
worked on his research on the epidemiology and control of classical swine
fever, and at the same time worked at the ambulatory clinic for ruminants and
porcine. In 2009 he graduated as a PhD in veterinary science. Afterwards, he
was employed in the same department, this as a practice assistant in ambulatory
clinic and as a postdoctoral scientist for the unit veterinary epidemiology. As
of February 2011, Stefaan Ribbens is working as a ruminant veterinarian for
healthcare at DGZ Flanders. In this function, he is responsible for the
execution of the IBR and BVD control program in Flanders. Last years, he
operates from within the unit healthcare, guidance and development. His main
focus is on the epidemiology of infectious cattle diseases and development of
control and surveillance programs.
