Cat Welfare 2019 Liège
Emmanuel Gaultier

Dr Emmanuel Gaultier

I qualified as veterinarian from Nantes Veterinary University (France) in 1993 and I defended a thesis about separation anxiety in dogs. A behavioural consultation for companion animals should be raised at that time.

A  Postgraduate degree (1year) in Paris XIII University completed my skills in ethology in 1996 and 2 years later I obtained the diploma of Veterinary-Behaviorist delivered by the French Veterinary Universities. Since 2005, I am a European Veterinary Specialist in Behavioural Medicine (ECAWBM/BM) and involved in many national and international veterinarian associations in Ethology and Zoopsychiatry (ESVCE, GECAF, Zoopsy).

My professional experience is a mix of clinical research (collaboration to the clinical development of dog, equine and cat pheromones during more than ten years), clinical practice (behavioural practice ten years more) and audit and coaching for veterinary structures willing to develop welfare and behavioural consultations.

I am teaching animal behaviour at a post-graduate level in collaboration with different institutions (Lyon University, AFVAC, Zoopsy) and I am a frequent lecturer in France and Europe.

I lead ongoing research in behaviour in parallel with clinical practice. My points of interest are actually the impact on welfare of dogs of owners reactions to dogs ‘unruly behaviours.
